Led by the Berlin-based American Jason Danziger, an architect who specializes in user-centered and conceptually-driven design, thinkbuild architecture creates spaces and buildings to support play, work, learning, interaction, recreation and healing.

Jason Danziger founded thinkbuild architecture BDA while living in Brooklyn, New York at the end of the 1990s before relocating to Berlin in 2000 to begin teaching at the TU-Berlin.

He will talk about how colour can be used as orientation and a clarifying tool for care environment, and invite us into the project Soteria 2, Haus Josef. Designed to support patients during first-episode psychosis, a re-newed Soteria Berlin was created in a historic building on the St Hedwig's Hospital campus, opening in September 2023.

Treatment at Soteria is based, among other things, on the therapeutic effect of a designed environment. This environment has social (as a "living group," including no hierarchical separation between staff from various professional groups and patients) and spatial aspects that complement each other synergistically. Colour serves to intuitively clarify spatial relationships and helps patients to find their way around.
